Meditation is more than sitting still; it is a journey inward, a way to find peace amid life’s hustle and bustle. In this interview, Maddy shares her experiences with the Meditation Moments app, explaining how meditation supported her through difficult times and enriched her everyday life.

Could you briefly tell us something about yourself?

“I’m Maddy, and love is the core of my life. As a wedding officiant I celebrate love; as a funeral speaker I guide loving farewells; and as a coach I help people connect lovingly with themselves and others.”

How did you come across Meditation Moments?

“I found Meditation Moments because, whenever I had an important conversation the next day, my mind was already racing. My thoughts were either in the past or in the future, never in the here-and-now. I wanted to change that. So I started using the app for free at first.

What struck me immediately were the beautiful colors, the gentle music, and Michael’s soothing voice. Whenever I was pondering something, the app helped me discover what I really wanted. That made me curious, and I found out the app offers so much more: audiobooks, music, breathing exercises, even movement.”

What does meditation mean to you?

“For me, meditating is making contact with yourself while staying in motion. Many people think meditation means sitting still on a cushion, but that’s not necessary at all. I often meditate while walking—even in the car on my way to work. With the app I start a meditation and begin my day on a positive note.

At first I was skeptical. I love to move and thought, ‘Sitting still isn’t for me.’ But the app guides you step by step. You may start restless, thinking about your grocery list or what you still have to do. Yet, like learning to ride a bike, it becomes familiar. Suddenly you experience that moment: your thoughts are calm, you’re in the now. It feels almost like the first time you cycled without training wheels.”

What benefits do you notice?

“The benefits are very personal, but for me it was also emotional healing. My relationship ended when my partner developed feelings for someone else—that was tough. I also lost my father and sister. It felt as if all the grief came together. At such moments the meditations helped tremendously. You can always find something you need. That has given me peace and a sense of support.”

How do you use the app in daily life?

“I’ve developed rituals. I use the app in the morning and evening, and also during the day—while walking or in the car. You can easily download meditations, so you don’t need an internet connection.

I use the sleep stories and sleep meditations every evening. They carry me into a dreamy atmosphere, so I fall asleep more easily. Sometimes I don’t even know how the story ends, because I’m already asleep! If I wake up in the middle of the night and start worrying, I play a meditation and calm down again. Sleeping well makes my days lighter.”

How has the app changed your life?

“Most noticeably, I’m more in the here-and-now. I’m more present in conversations and truly feel connected to the people around me. The app also helped me understand my emotions better. When I’m triggered or react too emotionally, I now ask myself: where does this come from? That self-reflection has really changed my life. It’s a process; it doesn’t happen all at once, but gradually you notice life becoming different.”
