5 tips for strengthening your intuition

You've probably had a gut feeling about a certain person or situation. The feeling that something wasn't right. And in the end, you were right! This is an example of a moment when your intuition spoke. Your intuition is the ability to know something without thinking analytically. Your intuition, so to speak, bridges the gap between your conscious and unconscious mind. But it remains something difficult to understand. Because what exactly is your intuition and how can you strengthen it?

How do you strengthen your intuition?

Ultimately, we need both our analytical ability and our intuition to make the best choices. Unfortunately, not many people are comfortable listening to their intuition when making choices. And that's not surprising, either! We live in a society where "listening to your intuition" is not always understood yet.

How do you dwell on what you want? And how do you ask your intuition what is the right path for you, regardless of what society says? With these 5 tips, you can strengthen your intuition.

1. Meditate

Messages from your intuition are often gentle, so it helps to spend time in silence. Meditation helps interpret messages and signals from your intuition.

You can meditate yourself by sitting in a quiet place, or you can listen to a guided meditation. A guided meditation can be nice because our brain often tends to wander. In the Meditation Moments App, you will find meditations specifically designed to strengthen your intuition and connect with your higher self.

2. Use oracle cards

Oracle cards are cards that give you a particular insight or a clear message. The nice thing about oracle cards is that anyone can easily work with them. Unlike tarot cards, you don't need any knowledge of symbolism or the meaning of the cards.

There are several ways you can use oracle cards. For example, you can draw one card, or you can do a laying. The cards will eventually answer your issue.

When choosing an issue, avoid asking for instructions and yes and no questions as much as possible. Also be careful about asking about the future. Examples of questions to get closer to your intuition are:

  • What do I need most right now?
  • What does my abundant life feel like?
  • What do I need to focus on to make the best choice?
  • How can I have a greater impact in the world?
  • How can I be more myself?

3. Examine your values

Values are your own private, personal and individual beliefs about what is most important to you. And our values are what we must fundamentally strive for. If we don't, we will never feel 100% fulfilled.

Your thoughts may steer you away from compassion and integrity, but your intuition never will. To get closer to your intuition, you will have to figure out what your values are - and how it feels when you betray your own values. When you know what your values are and how it feels when they align with your actions, your intuition will naturally be strengthened.

4. Get out in nature

Whether for work or personal reasons, we spend much of the day behind our screens. We are constantly "on" and all the outside stimuli and distractions make it harder to get to our intuition. By getting into nature, away from technology and our cognitive mind, we create space.

When you spend time in nature and breathe in and out quietly, more space naturally comes between your thoughts. Your thoughts now have room to adjust, and there is room for new insights.

You can take a walk in nature (barefoot) or simply sit on a rug in the woods to find peace within yourself. At first it may feel uncomfortable or even uncomfortable to be alone with your thoughts. You can therefore choose to do a guided walking meditation, where you are "guided" in seeking silence. In the Meditation Moments App you will find several meditations that are perfect for doing in nature.

5. Do breathwork

Breathwork (also called breathwork) is a collective term for various breathing techniques. Breathwork is the conscious manipulation of your breathing that allows you to quickly reach valuable insights. Try one of the following breathing exercises to turn inward through your breathing.
